Kids (0-12):
For every hour you read, you will earn coupons for local attractions. Drop in the library to pick
up your coupon packs as you read. After you read 10 hours, stop by the library for a free book!
Teens (13-18):
Get a raffle ticket for every hour you read this summer and be entered into drawings for your
choice of prizes. Earn a coupon pack and a free book when you enter your first hour of reading!
Stop by the library to pick up your coupon pack any time after your first hour, and turn in your
log by August 12th to enter your raffle tickets, or participate online on Beanstack (link above).
Adults (18+):
Get a raffle ticket for every book you read or listen to this summer to enter to win a grand prize.
When you log your first book, you’ll receive a coupon for a free book from the Friends of the Library
Book Nook! Fill out one paper entry for every book or log online on Beanstack (link above).

Community Art Night
Monday, June 12th from 4-6:30pm
Let’s kick of Summer Reading 2023! Paint rocks, design a square for our community quilt, and work on a community coloring project! This is a program for families, adults, teens, and kids to attend together. Children must have an adult present to attend.
All Knotted Up: Fiber Arts with Friends
Mondays: June 5 & 19, July 17, August 7 & 21, 5-6:45pm
For ages 10+
Stop in and work on your knitting or crocheting projects with other crafters!
Community Supply Drive
June 12-August 12
Help support South Milwaukee by bringing donations for our Community Supply Drive, which will run throughout Summer Reading. At the end of Summer Reading, we will donate everything to South Milwaukee Human Concerns.
Human Concerns can accept:
- Food – non-perishable, non-expired
- Clothing – new or gently used men’s women’s, and children’s clothing. Clothing for employment or employment interviews. Seasonal clothing, especially winter wear
- Household items – small appliances in good working order, cookware, blankets, lamps and related

Habitat Helpers: Gardening for Hummingbirds and Butterflies
Thursday, July 13th at 5:30pm
Learn how to make your outdoor space come alive with hummingbirds and butterflies. Participants will discover how to create a hummingbird and butterfly habitat in their own yard, garden, or deck. We will discuss the best plants to use that attract these flyers, what the best type of hummingbird feeder to use is, if butterfly houses actually work, and effective planting strategies. Presented by Wehr Nature Center.
