Digitization Project

The South Milwaukee Library holds a microfilm collection of South Milwaukee newspapers, with 112 rolls covering the years of 1892 to 2006. The microfilm reader and printer housed at the South Milwaukee Public Library is no longer functional. The South Milwaukee Historical Society is fundraising $15,000.00 to digitize the microfilm for use.

The Library Board voted to contribute up to $5,000.00 of the Stosick Trust Fund towards the South Milwaukee Historical Society’s Digitization Project. Special thanks to Benkowski Properties for pledging to match every donation dollar for dollar.

The Digitization Project was featured on Fox 6 and in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in February 2020.

Cash and check donations can be accepted at the South Milwaukee Public Library. Please make checks payable to the South Milwaukee Historical Society.

Checks can also be sent to the South Milwaukee Historical Society, located at 717 Milwaukee Ave., South Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
