CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) UPDATES

In consultation with the South Milwaukee and St. Francis Health Departments, and in an abundance of caution due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the South Milwaukee Library Board announced the closure of the library building to the public until further notice, effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020.

We started offering curbside pickup of library materials on Monday, April 27, 2020. Please view the procedure in the Curbside Pickup is Here section. We are working on a plan to partially reopen the library, starting Monday, June 1, 2020. Please view the Plans for Reopening section for more information as it is available.

If we miss you on the phone, please leave your name, phone number, card number, and what items you want to request. If there is a time slot open on the same day, we will offer it you. Staff will collect your items and check them out on your card.

Times need to be scheduled. We can only pull requests from South Milwaukee items that are currently in the library. Items are not being transferred between libraries at this time. Please search for South Milwaukee items on CountyCat. You can also search for new materials. Holds cannot be placed on materials at this time.

ARRIVING AT THE LIBRARY

Arrive at the library at your scheduled time. Park on 10th Avenue in front of the library doors. If you do not arrive at your pickup time, items will be checked in and you will need to request the items again.

PICKING UP MATERIALS

Staff will put your items on the table in front of the sidewalk. After staff goes back in the building, you may go to the table and pick up your items. Please return materials in the outside drop box to the left of the front door.

Plans for Reopening Header

The library is partially reopening following the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Guidelines for Library Service Level 3 and the South Milwaukee Library Board. We will reopen on Monday, June 1st with limited services such as computer use, copying, faxing, notary, and getting a new card or converting an e-Card. Additional services within Library Service Level 3 will be added when it it safe to do so. We will continue to provide curbside pickup, virtual programming, and digital resources.

Our priority will continue to be the health and safety of the community and library employees. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and support. We look forward to seeing you again.

Details will be provided as soon as they are available.
