About the Library

The South Milwaukee Public Library is available to the public.  Our mission is to offer items and services that inform and/or entertain.  Our children’s department strives to instill a love of reading for our early readers.  Our adult department strives to provide information literacy in a technological age, foster community involvement, and inspire a lifelong love of learning and reading. These items and services are available to Milwaukee County Federated Library System card holders in good standing with our library.

South Milwaukee has had a library on the current site of our library since 1917.  In 1967, the current library was built to serve the needs of its community.  The library is governed by a 7 member library board.
