About the Library

The mission of the South Milwaukee Public Library is to encourage lifelong habits of learning and to uphold the public’s freedom of access to information.  Our items and services are available to Milwaukee County Federated Library System card holders in good standing with our library.

South Milwaukee has had a library on the current site of our library since 1917.  In 1967, the current library was built to serve the needs of its community.  The library is governed by a 7 member library board.
